This is a unique opportunity to purchase a piece of American History. With only a little over 400 of these elegant yachts ever designed by classic wooden boat builder John Trumpy, "MadisonGrace" is one of last to still maintain most of her original design. She is the first of two yachts designed and built for John B Rich by John Trumpy and Sons, then sold to Alfred V. duPont. Launched as Shelly KayVI her successive names were Seaholm, Blue Chip, Broadview, Aquillon, renamed Broadview and currently MadisonGrace.
She is overall in sound condition, from 2015-2017 the hull was wooded and had any damaged planks replaced, followed by epoxy sealing, primer, and 4 coats of Interlux brightside polyurethane topcoat. At that time the exterior bright work was also refinished. In 2018 all portlights and helm glass were replaced. In the 1990's, a previous owner had the entire bottom planking removed, all damaged framework was repaired followed by a double planked mahogany per original construction. This was followed by a 3/8th inch marine plywood sheathing and then glassed over creating a composite. She is powered by 2 GM Diesel 671 Natural. A full interior modernization was begun in 2018 and partially completed. There are 2 new electric heads onboard and ready to be installed. Need to purchase holding tanks. There is also 2 new reverse cycle heat/air units that are in place and need hook up. Custom furniture, pillows and Sunbrella cushions all fabricated and some already onboard. Master stateroom has been completely stripped of paint with bedrails, locker doors, dresser and entry door stripped, and restored to their original varnished mahogany. The aft deck has all of its original Trumpy furniture that has also been recently refinished with Epifanes and fitted with new Sunbrella cushions and pillows. The aft deck eisenglaas was replaced in 2017. The electrical system was all replaced and upgraded.
